The Boat

We work with a small fleet of traditional Turkish wooden yachts and modern motor yachts, all operating privately out of Bosphorus marinas. The boats range from intimate vessels for two to larger yachts for proposals with family present. When you book, we discuss which boat fits your plans — whether you want something historic-looking with wooden decks and brass fittings, or a sleek modern yacht with a sun deck and full catering kitchen.

The boat is booked exclusively for you. No other passengers, no shared deck, no strangers nearby when the moment comes. The crew — typically a captain and one deck assistant — are briefed in advance on what is happening. They know to stay forward and give you space.

The Setup

We prepare the deck before you board, so your partner arrives to a ready scene. A typical setup includes: fresh roses in your chosen colour, candles in glass holders secured safely for the water, a champagne service on ice, and any personalised elements you have requested — a framed photo, a sign with your partner’s name, specific flowers they like, a special song queued on the audio system.

We source the flowers fresh on the morning of your proposal. You choose the colour scheme when you book — or leave it to us if you are not sure. We have done proposals in classic red, soft white and ivory, blush pink and dusty rose, and combinations of all three. If your partner has a favourite flower that is not a rose, we usually source it — just tell us in advance.

The Timing

Sunset departures are the most popular. The light on the Bosphorus at dusk is genuinely different from any other time — the water reflects orange and pink, the city lights begin to appear, and the mosques along the shore are lit from within. We recommend departing approximately 90 minutes before sunset so you are in open water with clear views when the sky changes colour.

Morning and afternoon departures are also available. Morning proposals have a different quality — quieter water, softer light, fewer boats. Some couples prefer proposing during the day because their partner is not a sunset person, or because they have dinner reservations after.

Photography

Every yacht proposal package includes a professional photographer. They travel on a separate small boat, maintaining a respectful distance and using a telephoto lens. Your partner does not see the camera until the proposal has already happened — which means the reaction we capture is completely genuine. These are not posed photographs; they are what actually occurred.

The photo package includes the full proposal sequence and the first 15-20 minutes after, delivered digitally within a few days. Video coverage is available as an add-on — we work with cinematographers who have filmed on the Bosphorus for years and understand how to handle the light and the water movement.

Practical Information

Most clients depart from marinas on the European side — near Besiktas, Ortakoy, or the area around Kabatas. If you are staying on the Asian side, we can arrange departure from there.

The cruise lasts two to three hours as standard. Extensions are available. If you would like dinner on the water after the proposal, we can arrange a catering service aboard — fresh seafood, Turkish mezze, or a custom menu.

We carry out proposals in every season. The best months are May through October. November through March can be cold, but the winter Bosphorus is beautiful and far less busy. We monitor weather conditions in the days before your date and will advise if there is any concern — backup dates are always arranged at the time of booking.
